These three wet and needle-felted wall hangings each represent one of the Three Realms mentioned in Celtic myth, Land, Sea, and Sky.

The process of creating the pieces was a sensory experience designed to induce a trance-like meditative state through repetitive movement and tactile sensation. The use of the pieces in the exhibition space was meant to evoke the feeling of a ritual environment.

"Hand your name to the Figure at the Gate." These statues represent the being that stands the threshold of Sacred Space, supporting the spiritual journey. It is a practice held in many spiritual contexts to leave behind your Ego as well as any parts of yourself that hinder meditation before entering into a ritual environment.

For me, the Figures became a reminder to let myself go, falling into the process of creating art through ritual. Here they sit gathered on the altar with natural elements as part of the performative rituals that took place within the exhibition.
